Seasons

I was on the phone with someone the other day, and as we were talking, they mentioned that they were feeling chilly. After they mentioned it, I remembered the same person only a month ago saying how hot they were because the weather hadn’t cooled down yet. I giggled to myself because I was thinking, I bet they don’t even remember telling me how hot they were just one month ago. At that moment, the Spirit of the Lord reminded me that everything in life happens in seasons. When the new season arrives, the struggles of the previous season will seem distant. Our focus will be on the joy, growth, and fulfillment found in the new season God has prepared for us. That reminder gave me tremendous hope because this has been an incredibly hard season for my family. We have been through the fire, but God has faithfully brought us through. Praise God, we made it, and we do not even smell like smoke. Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬, ‭11‬ ‭ says, “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end” (NLT).
In life, we will go through seasons. Some will feel like the heat of Summer and others like the cold of Winter. Then some will bring the freshness of Spring and coolness of Fall. However, one thing I know for sure is that the season will change. Morning will come and overtake the darkness of night. Nothing lasts forever. The pain and sorrow you feel will not last forever. The fire will not burn forever. Things will settle out. You will rise back to the top, and life will look like its worth living again. “For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning,” Psalms‬ ‭30‬:‭5‬ ‭(NLT). Take heart that the troubles you see will soon fade away as you keep your eyes focused on the one who is the Master of it all. Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭2‬, ‭5 says, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will gather you and your children from east and west” (NLT).
One thing to remember is that every season has its time. Just as God brings us out of one season and into another, He continues to lead us through new seasons of growth and change. This does not mean returning to the trials you have overcome, but rather embracing new opportunities and responsibilities, just like when you move from parenting toddlers to parenting teenagers. Each new season has its joys and its challenges. Be sure you make it a point to live in the moment of every season. So, cherish where you are today, because one day this season will be a memory of how you overcame through Christ Jesus. Until next time, Be Blessed!

Read Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-11‬‬ as your reminder of how many seasons there truly are and how God will faithfully bring you through all of them.
